Filmmakers are invited to submit their work now through December 21, 2023

LOS ANGELES – LAIFA is excited to announce the call for submissions for the 10th annual Los Angeles International Film Awards (LAIFA), scheduled to run March 15th, 2024, at various venues across the city. The 2024 Festival promises to showcase a vibrant mix of emerging talents and established directors, presenting films, including sensational independent hits and undiscovered gems waiting to captivate US audiences.

"We're thrilled to open submissions for our landmark 10th Festival and eagerly anticipate discovering new works from both first-time and seasoned filmmakers," says LAIFA Artistic Director, Danner Gardner. "Throughout our 50 festivals, LAIFA has evolved considerably, but our audience's enduring passion for independent and international cinema remains unchanged. We're committed to providing a platform for diverse voices and visions in film, and we can't wait to celebrate that with our audience."

Marking its golden jubilee in 2024, the Los Angeles International Film Awards has long been a champion of innovation, creativity, and immersive cinematic experiences. Recognized as an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Qualifying Festival for Short Films, the festival's dedication to prioritizing filmgoers' experiences ensures genuine audience reactions that have drawn filmmakers and distributors for half a century.

"There's much to celebrate as LAIFA approaches its 10th Festival," says LAIFA Executive Director, Angus Cheung. "We're excited about our plans for the grand opening of our new venue. We're also working closely with community partners to enhance Los Angeles's film economy. Additionally, preparations are in full swing for next year's Festival, making it an incredibly exciting time for our organization."

Submissions will undergo review by a team of over 10 programmers, who will curate Festival programs highlighting world cinema, emerging directors, documentaries, and more.

Filmmakers can submit feature or short-length narrative and documentary films from now until December 26, 2023.
